What is a 45° Flare?
A 45° flare (also called SAE flare) is the industry-standard connection method for refrigeration and air conditioning systems. The flared end of the tube creates a metal-to-metal seal when compressed by a flare nut, providing a leak-free connection that can withstand high pressures and temperature extremes.
How to Use:
- Cut tube to length and deburr inside and outside edges
- Slide flare nut onto tube (before flaring!)
- Insert tube into appropriate size hole in yoke
- Adjust tube height so it's flush with top of yoke
- Position auto-centering cone over tube
- Turn handle clockwise to create flare
- Continue until flare reaches edge of yoke
- Remove cone and check flare quality
Perfect Flares Every Time:
- Auto-Centering – Cone automatically centres on tube
- Bearing-Driven – Smooth, consistent pressure
- Forged Steel – Won't flex or distort under pressure
- Precise Sizing – Each hole machined to exact specifications
Maintenance:
- Keep yoke and cone clean and free from debris
- Lubricate cone threads occasionally with light oil
- Store in dry location to prevent rust
- Inspect cone for wear or damage regularly
- Replace if cone becomes worn or damaged
